You are able to open the contract window if a player is willing to negotiate a new conract. 
On the right side of the player details you will find the "negotiation" link below the bar which indecates the willing to negotiate. You will find the player details on the right side. 

The negotiation will take place on the left side. 
On top is your offer you can edit it with the keyboard or by using the buttons. You can make offer by pressing "Make offer". If the offers a bit too low the player will accommodate a bit but if its way too cheap he will abort the negotiations. If the player is fine with your new offer he will accept. 

In the middleyou will find the players claim and his mood which will decrease with every single 
negotiation round. Remind that the player will cancel the negotiation if his mood is too low and it will take a while until he is willing to negotioate again. 

On the buttom you will find the actual contract information for comparison.
